Unfortunately, there are about 10 shallow spots where the kayak was scratched. I was warned by a couple people about this possibility but decided to do this trip anyway - I never said I was an intelligent person :P. Aside from hitting bottom however, this trip was fantastic, and most of the river is easily deep enough. Going earlier in the spring would ensure you'd never hit bottom in a kayak as the waterline according to what I saw on the shoreline indiciated it's at least 8" to a full foot higher.

There was tons of wildlife along this river. I saw 3 deer, dozens of small turtles and a couple very large ones (huge shells approx a foot in length), a couple herons and even an eagle. The eagle made a huge noise as it flew off which is when I first noticed it. I was fairly close and am quite certain it was in fact an eagle...bald white head with a yellow hooked beak, and a huge wingspan. Beautiful. And because it's a river I hardly had to paddle...if only it was deeper in just a few places it would have been a perfect trip.
